Apple is rumoured to plan substantial enhancements for its upcoming iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, featuring upgrades like 8GB RAM and Wi-Fi 6E. Despite being early in 2024, the smartphone landscape is buzzing with significant launches from industry giants like Samsung’s Galaxy S24 and OnePlus’ OnePlus 12. Apple traditionally unveils its new iPhones in September, and early reports suggest substantial improvements for the iPhone 16 lineup.

Technology analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities suggests that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus may come with 8GB of RAM, a notable increase from the 6GB in their predecessors, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. This boost in RAM could result in enhanced multitasking performance. Furthermore, all iPhone 16 models, including the base, Plus, and Pro variants, may feature 8GB of RAM.

Apart from RAM, the iPhone 16 series might include Wi-Fi 6E support for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Wi-Fi 6E operates in the 6 GHz band, offering higher wireless speeds and reduced signal interference with compatible routers. Notably, only the Pro models in the iPhone 15 lineup had Wi-Fi 6E support.

Pu also speculates that the iPhone 16 Pro models will incorporate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 5G modem, a step up from the X70 used in the iPhone 15 series from 2023. However, the regular iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are expected to retain the older X70 modem, with the Pro models enjoying the advantages of the faster and more efficient X75.

Additional features rumoured for the iPhone 16 series include a capture button, larger screens, more internal space, bigger batteries, and a potential new colour option. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max may feature screen sizes of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively, more significant than their predecessors. Noteworthy camera upgrades, such as a 5x optical zoom telephoto lens and a 48MP ultrawide camera, are also anticipated. The phones may be powered by the A18 series chips, with the Pro models possibly featuring the A18 Pro variant. However, these details are speculative, and Apple may introduce surprises when officially revealing the iPhone 16 series. For more information, keep an eye on the IncBasil Website.
